Jodhpur Fort, also known as Mehrangarh Fort, is one of the largest forts in India, located in the city of Jodhpur in the state of Rajasthan. It was built by Rao Jodha in 1459, the founder of the city of Jodhpur.

Construction of the fort started in 1459 and it took around 500 years to complete. The fort is located on a hill 410 feet (125 meters) above the city, and its walls rise to a height of 120 feet (36 meters). The fort is built of red sandstone and is surrounded by a moat.

The fort has seven gates, which were built over the centuries. The main gate is called Jai Pol and was built by Maharaja Man Singh in 1806. The gate is named after his victory over the Jaipur and Bikaner armies.

The fort has several palaces, including Moti Mahal, Sheesh Mahal, Phool Mahal, Zenana Mahal, and Takht Vilas. Moti Mahal was built by Maharaja Sur Singh in the 17th century and is known for its exquisite glass windows. Sheesh Mahal was built by Maharaja Abhaya Singh in the 18th century and is known for its mirror work. Phool Mahal was built by Maharaja Abhaya Singh in the 18th century and was used for private audiences. Zenana Mahal was built for the royal ladies and Takht Vilas was built for Maharaja Takhat Singh.

The fort also has several temples, including Chamunda Mataji Temple, Nagnechiaji Temple, and Laxmi Nath Temple. Chamunda Mataji Temple is located near the fort's main gate and is dedicated to the goddess Chamunda. Nagnechiaji Temple is dedicated to the Kuldevi of the rulers of Jodhpur. Laxmi Nath Temple is dedicated to the god Vishnu and was built in the 17th century.

The fort has been the site of several battles over the centuries. In 1679, the fort was attacked by Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb, but he was unable to capture it. In 1806, the fort was attacked by the Jaipur and Bikaner armies, but they were repelled by Maharaja Man Singh.

Today, the fort is a popular tourist attraction and is maintained by the Mehrangarh Museum Trust. The fort has also been used as a location for several films, including The Dark Knight Rises and The Jungle Book.
